About Profiler

Discover Greatness.

The discovery and booking platform for independent professionals in cosmetics, fashion, and entertainment.

Why Profiler exists

Years ago, I saw a video on Facebook of two sisters singing covers. They were incredible, and I remember thinking the world needed to hear them. It did — a famous artist found that video, shared it, and signed them.

But that's the part that stuck with me. They got lucky. How many people that talented never do? The photographers, dancers, artists, and performers who are just as good but never cross the right person's path — should they have to go viral just to get found by the people who actually need them?

I didn't think so. So I built Profiler.

The pattern I kept watching played out in two directions at once. On one side, I'd see independent professionals — lash artists, braiders, makeup artists, stylists, photographers, DJs — build real businesses out of nothing but skill, word of mouth, and Instagram DMs. Talented people doing serious work, often booked solid, often charging real rates. But almost none of them had a public presence beyond a social account. Google didn't know they existed. If someone outside their immediate network tried to find them, they couldn't.

On the other side, I'd watch clients spend hours hunting through hashtags trying to figure out who in their city was good, available, and within their budget. Word-of-mouth still worked, but only if you knew someone in the right circle. Everyone else was scrolling Instagram with no real way to compare, no reviews they could trust, and no idea who specialized in what they actually wanted.

The booking part was already solved. Square, Acuity, GlossGenius, StyleSeat, Calendly, Stripe — independent professionals had plenty of tools to take payments and manage their schedules. The missing piece was discoverability. There was no platform that took the talent layer of cosmetics, fashion, and entertainment and made it findable the way Yelp made restaurants findable, the way Zillow made homes findable, the way Airbnb made stays findable.

Profiler is for the talented professional who already has a booking system that works for them — keep it. What we add is a public, indexable, well-designed home for their work that shows up on Google, gets cited by AI tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity, and renders beautifully when shared anywhere. Free for talents. Genuinely useful for clients.

What we built

Profiler combines three things that have historically lived in separate platforms:

A professional discovery network.Every talent on Profiler has a public profile showing their work, services, prices, location, and verified reviews. Profiles are designed to be shareable, searchable, and citeable — they show up on Google, they look right when shared on Instagram and TikTok, and AI tools can read them and cite them when answering client questions.
A service marketplace.Clients book services directly through Profiler when the talent has it enabled. Payments run on Stripe. Talents who already use Square, Acuity, GlossGenius, or any other system can keep using it — Profiler links out to wherever they already take bookings.
Event tools and ticketing. For event organizers and the talents who work events — DJs, photographers, MCs, performers — Profiler includes full event management with QR-coded ticketing, so the same platform that gets the talent found also gets the event run.

We chose to launch with cosmetics first because it's the category where the discoverability gap is widest and the talent density is highest. Fashion and entertainment follow.

What we're focused on right now

Phase 1 of Profiler is cosmetics — lash artists, braiders, makeup artists, estheticians, nail technicians, brow specialists, hair stylists, and the broader beauty professional community. We're concentrating here because:

If you're a cosmetics professional, listing on Profiler is free. Your profile is live the day you finish onboarding. It's indexable by Google and citeable by AI tools immediately.

Fashion and entertainment categories are next.

Who's behind Profiler

Gavin Brown — Founder

I'm not from the beauty, fashion, or entertainment world — and that's part of why I built Profiler. I came at this as an outsider who kept noticing the same thing: extraordinarily talented people who couldn't get found, while discovery seemed to depend on luck, algorithms, or knowing the right person.

But I'm not a stranger to the work itself. I'm a do-it-yourself person by nature — I cut my own hair, shoot my own photos, DJ on the side, and I've spent years dancing. None of that makes me a professional, and that's the point: doing these things myself taught me exactly how much effort, skill, and consistency separates someone good from someone great. So when I see another person's body of work, I can read the hours behind it. I know what it took. That respect for the craft is the lens I built this whole platform through.

What I also bring is the ability to actually build it. Profiler isn't a pitch deck or a someday-idea — it's a live, production app I designed and shipped across iOS and Android, with real booking, payments, and discovery behind it. I sweated the unglamorous parts: payments, trust, the thousand small details that decide whether people actually come back.

Mostly, I'm driven by a simple belief — that talent shouldn't have to go viral to get discovered. The people who need a great makeup artist, photographer, or performer are out there right now. The talent is too. Profiler exists to connect them directly, without the gatekeepers. I'm building the tool I wished existed for every gifted person still waiting to be seen.

Why this matters

The independent professional economy is one of the most overlooked sectors in tech. Tens of thousands of skilled cosmetics, fashion, and entertainment professionals in New York alone — and millions more across North America, the Caribbean, Europe, and beyond — run real businesses with no public infrastructure to support them. They build clienteles one DM at a time and hope referrals catch up.

Profiler's mission is to give these professionals the same public presence and discoverability that restaurants, real estate agents, and home service providers have had for over a decade — without taking away the booking systems they already trust, without charging them to be listed, and without forcing them to learn a new platform from scratch.

We measure success by whether our talents get found, booked, and grow. Not by our user counts, not by app downloads, not by impressions. By bookings their clients trace back to Profiler.
